PNW Conference receives $275K UMCOR grant for wildfire recovery
The PNW Conference has been awarded a $275,000 grant from UMCOR to support long-term recovery for survivors of the 2023 Medical Lake and Elk wildfires. The funding will enable Disaster Case Managers to assist uninsured and underinsured households with recovery and access to new state and federal resources. With matching conference funds, total support now stands at $300,000.
Wesley UMC of Yakima’s enduring vision for God’s creation
Before creation care was cool, Wesley UMC in Yakima was leading the way. With roots in a single recycling box 40 years ago, the church now processes over 883,000 pounds of recyclables a year, powers its ministry with solar energy, and brings people together—one can, one cup of compost, one connection at a time.
